If you have never ridden or seen an Icelandic horse you are in for an exciting experience. One of the gentlest of horses, the Icelandic is known as the “horse of the Vikings.”

For over a thousand years the breed was developed and maintained in isolation in Iceland of extremely pure stock.

Today’s horse is used increasingly where endurance and strength need to be combined with good nature and intelligence.

The Icelandic is not a pony, do not be deceived by the relatively small size. Many large men ride this horse with great comfort and ease. The Icelandic has five natural gaits.

Today's Icelandic is truly a horse of many uses. Great around the family, out on the trail and even for a little dressage! If you are wondering if the Icelandic is a good horse for our dry climate in New Mexico take a look at this article by Sharon Niederman.

Windsong and Ulla Hudson have extensive experience importing dressage prospects and mature horses from Germany, and Icelandic horses from Iceland. With over 25 years experience importing horses, we feel confident that we can find your new equine partner. We have an extensive network of breeders and agents who can find your horse for you.

Ulla  has ridden and trained to Grand Prix. She is an internationally qualified dressage and Icelandic teacher, instructor, trainer and rider. She is available as a clinician for dressage and Icelandic clinics in Europe, Central, South & North America. She is an experienced clinician at all levels through FEI.

NM residents can contact Ulla Hudson at 505-615-5050 for more information and for clinics.
